Singapore Management University (SMU) Undergraduate Programs
A premier university in Asia, the Singapore Management University (SMU) is internationally recognised for its world class research and distinguished teaching. Established in 2000, SMU’s mission is to generate leading edge research with global impact and produce broad-based, creative and entrepreneurial leaders for the knowledge-based economy. It is known to be a pioneer in Singapore for its interactive and technologically-enabled pedagogy of seminar-style teaching in small class sizes which remains its unique hallmark.
Home to about 8,000 students, SMU comprises six schools: School of Accountancy, Lee Kong Chian School of Business, School of Economics, School of Information Systems, School of Law and School of Social Sciences, offering a wide range of bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degree programmes in business and other disciplines.
Still remember the period of time when I had to choose my university, I was pretty lost, being the eldest child and had no one to consult. In the end, I was so indecisive (not knowing what courses to choose) that I even asked a medium which University I should choose (as all my applications got approved)!
One of the reasons why I had a hard time choosing was the lack of information online at that time and I had a hard time comparing the various programs and courses. (And you know, going to open houses means you will be psychoed by every senior from the different courses, trying to convince you then their course is the best)
So do you think SMU is right for you? Here’s SMU’s recruitment page which I thought has a few pretty good functions to help you in deciding what is your preferred undergraduate courses.
Simple and Clear Way to Compare
I like how the layout was simple, and just select the few courses where you want to compare their course. I guess it will be much better if there is a cross-university comparison chart, but this information is pretty cool on itself. When I was looking through the thick pile of university booklets back in those days, I always had problem finding information I need, simply because the information were everywhere.
Here, you get to compare (and even download!) every basic thing you need, from the number of years you need to study for a degree, to the amount of school fees you have to pay. If there’s anything else you need to know, they even provide the contact person for that particular undergraduate program!
How good is that?
Do check out the undergraduate programs and mark down your calendar for the next admission in October 2013. The current undergraduate recruitment drive is on now, so check out http://smu.edu.sg/programmes/undergraduate
